Merry Christmas 2008

We had a great Christmas this year! We started off on Christmas Eve with taking the kids to the dollar store to pick out gifts for each other. This is sort of a tradition on Christmas Eve just because if we take the kids any sooner, they tell each other what they got :) The kids had a great time picking out things all by themselves while mommy or daddy followed them around the store. When we got home, daddy helped all the kids wrap the gifts one at a time. They were so cute and excited to give each other their gifts.

Christmas Eve moved on to the traditional present of new pajamas. We only did this first because Spencer got his pajamas on almost as soon as we got home from the dollar store (he wanted to be the first one ready for bed so he could open our book for the night), and Matthew was following me around the house with a pair of pajamas begging me to help him put them on while I was making dinner. We finally just gave in and everyone was pretty much in their pajamas by 6:00. We just couldn't pass up this opportunity for a family photo!! Check out those cute pj's!!
The rest of the evening was spent talking about the birth of Jesus Christ and expressing gratitude for the true meaning of Christmas. We started some new special family traditions that we hope to carry on throughout the years.

Now . . . here comes Christmas . . . trouble, cuteness, fun, and a very messy living room (so messy in fact that Grandma and Grandpa Taylor could barely get in the door when they came and the kids had to open their gifts from them in the kitchen--that's what mommy gets for spending all day playing on her new computer!)

Whoa, Gabe, that present is bigger than you!

Some of the kids favorite gifts came from the dollar store--why didn't we just do all of our shopping at the dollar store?? Spencer gave Emily a Winks comic book and Matthew gave her the coolest pen ever (it blows bubbles, stamps, and writes--all for only a dollar!)

Matthew and his cute christmas smile with his new favorite toy--a transformer Bumblebee.

My good-looking man enjoying the moment!

Our cute boys with matching dinosaur pajamas!

Emily got a little sewing kit--it kept her busy all day as daddy taught her to sew and
cross-stitch! (mommy was on the computer :) and daddy is a better cross-stitcher anyways--just ask him)

Daddy helping Spencer build his new lego set (notice the computer is not being used!)

Gabe loved the cookies santa left him in his sock.

He also loved trying out his new bath seat and tub toys. Do you think he is going to be blonde??

It was a great Christmas with no new white stuff until last night (even though my parents who are only a few miles away got tons of snow.) But . . . this is what it looks like at our house today . . .

I'd say that's pretty white!
Drive careful, mom and dad Goostrey!
